Share Your Stories

They say journalism is the first draft of history—and we know Missouri Journalism alumni have been helping write it for 100 years. We want to know how you have been involved in the history of the last century, whether it was writing breaking news, creating successful ad campaigns or making your mark in any number of careers.

Tell us how your work contributed to or coincided with a particular historical or cultural event using any one of the submission options listed below.

Two new options—a YouTube channel and this wiki—give you more flexibility in sharing your memories, tales and reflections. And, you can always write us.

Feel like addressing a different prompt? You can use the ones below to craft your story. We will highlight some of them in the centennial/dedication materials.

• Identify work you did as a J-student that involved significant events and activities.

• Share something you learned at the J-School that has sustained you throughout your career/life.

• Describe a time when J-School alumni have made a difference in your career and/or life.

• Forecast the future: What do you think will influence journalism in the next century and in what way?

Missouri Journalism Centennial Timeline

Need help reviving your memories?

The Missouri Journalism Centennial Timeline[1], a key feature of the 2008 Centennial/Dedication Web site[2], contains more than 150 images and facts spanning the years 1808–2008. Beginning with the state's first newspaper in 1808, the timeline's first section traces the events leading up to the School's founding on Sept. 14, 1908. Thereafter, a decade-by-decade approach immerses viewers in the students, faculty, facilities, curriculum and technology that have made the School the leader in journalism education.
